INVISIBLE SPENDING

You try to keep on your budget, but every time you look your bank current balance, you have always less money and when you see the detailed voices of purchases youu notice that big part of your shopping is been online...this is what we can say Invisible spending and you are a invisible spender.
If you have a credit card is easy to be tempted to do lot of transaction on web because prices on internet seem so affordables, maybe you book moure vouchers and coupons that you really need and is a second to overspend because payng with card you don't see material your money that go out from your wallet and savings, you don't need to do line to wait to pay you click and it's done so CLick after click your savings end.
Most of us stay online in late night and in some stressful period we want to treat ourself, however it is not so wrong, but you need to follow some tips to have control of your shopping and finance also on line.

  • Set a realistic budget: no your monthly income isn't higher than last month, so after bills, savings you can still have some money to spend, so set a realistic budget for fun stuff. So you will treat yourself but also your wallet
  • Pay in cash: swap normal credit card with prepaid card, first you don't have interests to pay to maintain it and there is a limit of money that you can put on it, having real transation with immediately payments for you is more real that usually online shopping where you click. PayPal  offer this but if you want to use credit card pay bill monthly and determined a real budget. (I chose prepaid card where I put determined amount and I know that I can't overspend or transactions will fail)
  • Keep a spending diary: Online shopping seems so easy and cheap so you click and click and click thinking that they are so cheap, but every time you buy something write on your organizer, notebook, laptop, mobile and when you realize that all that stuff costed you more than €300 in something that you don't like more so much or doesn't fit so well is not so funny as the beginning. Honestly I have a diary where I write all my daily purchases, earnings and once per week I caontrol the status of my finances so I see in which areas I'm sending more.
  • Don't save your details on shopping sites: if you need to re-imput them makes you think twice before spending. This time gives you time to think well if you really want that item or not.
  • Avoid going online in the evenings: after a long day at work, stressful discussion with a friend, fiancè, boss, you need to treat yourself but being so tired you could do real dangers so put a deadline hour to stay online.
  • Prioritise your treats: Fun buys are good but a lot of time you buy noot necessary items so you need to cut this kind of shopping and do a list of things you really want and need.
