As I wrote some post ago, I've discovered that I have a lot of rel talented friends in different fields. Some months ago I receive a letter from Natalya with a little card with pics of a dollhouse totally handmade, my first though is been "wow it's seems really nice", but when I am been guest intheir home last August I discovered that the house was more bigger than I thought, infact it occupied almost all the big table in the dining room.
Dustin, who is the artist, made it everything alone piece after piece, It is really well done detailed and honestly is very very nice.
Dustin and Natalya like antiques, infact they live in a historical hose and this is a 1850 Greek Revival. In the card there was this description:
"This dollhose is one of the twelfth scale model of an American Greek revival of the mid 19th century. Every feature, including all exterior molding, corner boards, chimneys, raised panel shutters, six over six windows and entryways are accurately portrayed as a late 1840's early 1850's neoclassic home. The interior features have been equally considered such as fireplace mantels, baseboards, molding, column stoves, doors, lightin, stairways, flooring and layout. Every piece f the house has been completely handmade, with the style and era being replicated in precise detail to portray an exact model of a period Greek Revival. Some of the unique applications include the doors and floor which are grain painted by hand, the back servants 'stairs, exposed timber framing in the attic, and the cedar shake shingles that have been individually hand split. All windows, doors, and shutters are functional as well. The primary rooms are electrified with handmade lights. Each electrified room is wired to a switch board and can be individually turned on or off at the flick of its own control. This house is the only one of its design and will never be copied by the builder. Each part of the building is made individually and is entirely unique to itself, making the house a complete original".Dustin designed and did it with 4784 pieces (all handmade), when they said me that he would like to sell it for $15,900 I thought that it was a little bit expensive, but after some researches I discovered that the average cost for a handmade dollhouse is about $30000, so it isn't so expensive.
Honestly now I didn't ask if they sold it or not, I will do in the next letter (yes we use email, facebook and other social media platforms, but we prefer to send us snail mail).
However if you want to have more information or see similar projects visit:.historic dollhouses or write here for more information.
